Get off Auto & take great photos in just one day
Many novice photographers use their expensive Digital SLR Camera on the fully auto setting and are often disappointed by the average results this achieves. If you intend to use your camera like this you may as well stick with a compact camera.
These jargon free Digital Photography Courses will explain in simple terms when to use all the other settings and we'll show you how to take stunning photographs you will be proud to hang on your wall.
Our Photography Courses are Limited to Six Students*
All our One Day Digital SLR camera courses are limited to six students and will suit anyone from the complete beginner to the intermediate Digital SLR photographer. The course includes a free pocket guide to landscape, portrait and action photography.
* On very rare occasions we will take 7 students if two wish to attend the same course together.
Course Requirement - a DSLR or Bridge Camera with PASM settings
Camera Course Suitable for the Complete Novice
All our Digital SLR photography courses start off with the absolute basics and progress, step by step, through to some of the more technical aspects. Each camera operation or photography lesson is followed by a demonstration then a practical session.
After the camera and outdoor practical photography sessions we review the images and offer constructive feedback. This is followed by photo-editing tutorial where we will show you how to get the very best from your your photographs. Please visit the Student Photo Galleries to see picture from previous photography course students.
This Photography Course Will Show You How To:
- Choose the correct menus settings & when to use them
- Take a well composed portrait with a blurry background
so the focus is on the person.
- Take a well composed landscape with everything sharp or isolate a flower soit stands out from it’s background.
- Freeze the action at a sporting event or show movement
for a sense of speed and excitement.
- Take well exposed pictures indoors at a concert, museum
or church without using the flash

Hybrid or Bridge Photography Course
Most courses are mainly intended for Digital SLR users but we do sometimes get asked if Bridge or Hybrid cameras users can attend the Digital SLR photography courses. The proviso is that some of the more technical aspects of Digital SLR photography might not apply to the bridge camera but you will still find the course beneficial and enjoyable. If you are happy to accept these conditions below then you are welcome to attend. You will be informed during the course of any items do not apply to your bridge camera.
Q - What happens if it rains - Answer - We carry on
Think of it this way. If you can take great photographs when it's cold , windy, dark and wet imagine what you can achieve when the sun comes out.
If we do have torrential rain we will pair you off and lend you a brolly. We have never had a course rained off and the last time we had a totally wet weekend the students actually came back with some of the best pictures we had seen on any course which was quite amazing.

Student Testimonials
Great paced and I felt progression at every step. I’ve learnt some great photography tips and thoroughly enjoyed the day. I had been on a different company’s course previously but there was no comparison between the two. This one was much better. Helen Bason
A great day which was informal yet with easy to understand explanations and language. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to understand their camera better. Dale Rowe.
I loved everything about this course. Glen was very patient and was always willing to answer the dumbest questions. I thoroughly enjoyed putting the theory into practice during the practical sessions. The course also had nice food in comfortable surroundings in a delightful village. Thank you to Glen and Jacqui. Denise Connor
I'm an 18 year old student and I was worried about fitting in with the different age groups but everyone was very friendly and welcoming. This made me feel much more confident about taking photographs and I wasn't afraid to ask for any help. I loved my day and it was definitely worth flying over from Northern Ireland for the course.

A very informative and perfectly paced photography course. It absolutely met all my needs and requirement. Highly recommended. Trev Barton.

I’ve been on some cheaper camera courses than this one, and some more expensive ones, but none came close to being as good. Glen’s relaxed teaching manner and jargon free explanations must make this one of the best photography courses you can attend. The practical photography session, followed by the constructive feedback, was brilliant and the photo-editing demonstration using Picasa was a real bonus. I’ll be downloading that as soon as I get home. 10/10. Many Thanks for an excellent day.
Dave Kirby.
P.S. Thank you to Jacqui for the great lunch too.

This course covered much more than I expected but it wasn't rushed. Glen has a relaxed teaching style and if your not sure about anything he's patient and happy to re-track until you understand.
Tommy Needham
"Glen was very patient and nice to spend the day with. Thank you for an absolutely brilliant day and thanks to Jacqui for lunch." Greta Powell.
"I found this course thoroughly enjoyable and educating. I wasn't overwhelmed with technical jargon but Glen also didn't try to teach me to suck eggs. After some more practice with my new found skills I will booking on a more specialist course."
Kate Roberts
"I enjoyed this course very much and it was very well presented in lovely surroundings. I feel a lot more confident now." Malc Mott.

Excellent Course with very easy instruction followed by practical experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and I will certainly be coming back for some one to one tuition. Kev Swain
Very enjoyable course with a good mix of theory and practical. It has increased my confidence in using my camera more than I would have thought possible in one day. Owen Rees
A very informative course which was well worth the time and cost. As the were only six on the course it almost felt like one to one teaching. I look forward to creating better pictures and I'm hoping to attend a more specialist course in the future. - Allan Crowson
